In the search for motor vehicles, one often overlooked possibility is that the collateral might have actually been wrecked and salvaged or that the debtor was actually telling the truth when they stated that the unit had been stolen. One quick check through the service VinCheck should always be performed at the beginning of each assignment.
NICB’s VINCheck is a service provided to the public to assist in determining if a vehicle has been reported as stolen, but not recovered, or has been reported as a salvage vehicle by cooperating NICB members. To perform a search, a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is required. A maximum of five VINCheck searches can be conducted within a 24-hour period per IP address.
Best of all it’s free!
